Meet Ascaso! Humble Roots with a Vibrant Future

Almost 60 years later Jesus Ascaso has left his impression and ripple effect in the coffee machine world.  Born in a small village in Huesca, Spain J. Ascaso was a man with great entrepreneurial spirit and moving to the big city was his only opportunity to better himself.  He moved to Barcelona with 3,000 pesetas in his pocket and a mind full of ideas.  In the 1950’s espresso was becoming popular in Europe.  In Barcelona, in particular, its popularity saw the growth of a thriving coffee based industry.

In the early 1950’s J. Ascaso worked for a company supplying chrome plated espresso machine parts before joining Gaggia from 1950 – 1962 making parts for the world-renowned coffee machine company.

By this time other professionally made coffee machine manufacturers started popping up and growing in popularity which increased the demand for parts & service which is when J. Ascaso decided to branch out on his own and manufacture components for most of the machines on the market.

The year was 1962 by this point and following the always difficult start up years he hired his 1st sales rep who introduced Ascaso to distributors and mechanics across Spain.  Ascaso was officially born producing and distributing a basic product line for coffee machine parts that included filter holders, steam valves, heating elements and o-rings.

Today, Ascaso is led by Jesus Ascaso’s son “Jose-Luis Ascaso,” operates in 95 countries, occupies a facility over 43,000 sq. ft. in Barcelona, employs 50 people and designs/manufactures 100% of their products in Barcelona.

Although the company has gone through some transitions over the years with the more recent decision to sell off the traditional spare parts division, which represents 23,000 products has helped revitalize Ascaso’s focus to exclusively manufacture and design professional coffee machines.

With award winning machines such as the Barista T, state of the art technology and affordable pricing Ascaso has solidified its place in the market as a leader in the coffee machine industry.
